What core supports actually covers
Core supports is the everyday stuff. It's the biggest and most flexible part of most people's plans, and it's the one that changes how a week actually feels.
It covers more than people expect: help with personal care, a hand around the house, getting out to appointments and shops and things you enjoy, and support to try something you haven't done before. It also covers lawn and yard maintenance and home cleaning — which surprises almost everybody. Some people use a few hours a week. Others use support most days. Both are completely normal.
What we care about is who turns up. Continuity is the thing that makes support work — a worker who already knows you takes their coat off and gets on with it, while a new one needs the whole story again. So we roster for consistency rather than convenience, and you get a say in who supports you. If someone isn't the right fit, tell us. We'd much rather swap them than have you put up with it.
The other thing worth knowing: core supports funding is generally the most flexible in your plan. If what you need shifts during the year, there's usually room to move — and if you're not sure, ask us before you assume the answer is no.
Getting started
How we work out who's right for you
1
We come and sit down
At your place, at a time that suits. No clipboard, no assessment voice — just a conversation.
2
We work out the fit
Who'd suit you, what hours, what matters. You get a say in which worker, and you can change your mind.
3
You meet them first
Before any shift starts. If it's not right, we find someone else and nobody takes it personally.
4
We check back
Properly, not a survey. If something's not working we'd rather hear it early than politely never.
